Alda M. Nearing
, 75, of 108 Irishtown Road, and formerly of Main Street, Kersey, died on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at UPMC Altoona following a brief illness.
She was born on January 24, 1942, in Brookville, a daughter of the late Harold and Betty Wonderling Terwilliger.
On December 22, 1963, in she married John L. Nearing, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1973.
Alda was a member of the Kersey United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Fox Township Ladies Auxiliary. Years ago, she had volunteered her time as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed going for rides and looking at the scenery, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, John Nearing, Jr., of Kersey, Chris Nearing, of Kersey, and Scott (Laurie) Nearing of St. Marys, by three daughters, Cindy Shipe of St. Marys, Vanessa (Tony) Tegano of Ridgway and Susan (Tony) King of Ridgway, as well as by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Larry Terwilliger of Smethport, Harold Terwilliger, Sr., of St. Marys, Fred (Glenda) Terwilliger of Dagus Mines, Thomas (Sue) Terwilliger of NC, and by a sister, Evelyn Terwilliger of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Yale.
A Memorial Service for Alda M. Nearing will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Lynch-Green Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Hoover, officiating.
Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends and family will be received from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Kersey Fireman's.
