Alice E. Rigard

June 20, 1918 — January 21, 2015

Alice E. Rigard , 96, of 515 North St. Marys Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Pinecrest Manor following a short illness.

She was born on June 20, 1918, a daughter of the late Joseph Hannibal and Genevieve Geitner Hannibal Wilhelm.

On January 18, 1937 in Olean, NY, she married Francis A. Rigard, who preceded her in death on October 9, 1979.

Mrs. Rigard was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Marys Church.  She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and sitting on her front porch.  She also enjoyed her flowers, especially her geraniums, and her daughter and son-in-law's dog, Forrest.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Doris, Mrs. Arnold "Butch" Erich, 2 sons, Joseph Rigard his wife Jean and Gerald Rigard and his wife Sherry, all of St. Marys; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by 2 sisters, Eileen, Mrs. Kermit Sandberg of Ridgway and Marie Corradi of Indiana and by a brother-in-law, Leo "Pickles" Rigard, of St. Marys.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Ben Wilhelm, her grandsons, David Erich and Barry Rigard and her great-grandson,
Mason Rigard.  She was also preceded in death by 5 brothers, Clement, Herbert, Harry, Carl and Leo Hannibal and by a sister, Mildred Frey.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alice E. Rigard will be celebrated on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys with Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.


There will be no public visitation.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Community Nurses Inc, Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail, c/o the Amercian Legion, 168 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857.
