Anthony Mertz

Anthony J. Mertz , 61, of 16 Mertz Avenue, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Penn Highlands Elk following a lengthy illness.

He was born on April 28, 1957, in St. Marys, a son of the late Robert and Norma Johnson Mertz.

On Saturday, May 12, 1990 in Sacred Heart Church, he married Tina Kline Mertz, who survives of St. Marys and who cared for him for many years until his death.

Tony was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of Sacred Heart Church.  He worked as the maintenance supervisor at Sacred Heart Church for many years.  Tony was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved and cared for his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

In addition to his wife, Tina Kline Mertz, he is survived by three daughters, Tonia Roberto and her husband Nicholas of St. Marys, Beth (Maurice Greene) Mertz of Weedville, and Kristin Mertz of Johnsonburg, by one son, Timothy (Amy Miller) Mertz of St. Marys, and by eleven grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, Dion, Carmella, Miguel, Brock, Marquise, Dominic, Kianna, Aleighah, and Noah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, David Mertz.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony J. Mertz will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church, Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB, officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
