Arthur G. Foster

Arthur G. "Art" Foster , 94, of 1076 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 following a short illness.

He was born on August 4, 1924, in St. Marys, a son of the late George and Helen Beimel Foster.

On July 2, 1955, in St. Marys, he married Martha Lenze Foster, who survives of St. Marys.

Art was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Area Schools.  He was a member of St. Marys Church.  He served in the U.S. Army stateside during WWII and then overseas during the Korean War.  He was a self-employed logger and had worked at Corbet Cabinet, Stackpole, and the City of St. Marys as an equipment operator.  He enjoyed gardening, farming, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of more than 63 years, Martha Lenze Foster, he is survived by three sons, Jeff Foster and his wife Mary Ann of Wyoming, Russ Foster of Oklahoma, and Stan Foster and his wife Barbara of St. Marys, eight grandchildren, Nicole, Stacy, Josh, Cody, Sloan, Amanda, Wyatt and Maria, and by three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Alexis and Jenny.  He is also survived by five sisters, Agnes Bouse of Johnsonburg, Grace Zuraski of Johnsonburg, Helen Zurfluh, Betty Kuntz, and Eileen Dornisch, all of St. Marys, and by one brother, James Foster of St. Marys, as well as by three sisters-in-law, Cecilia Foster, Carol Foster, and Mary Foster as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addititon to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Foster and Evelyn Foster, and by four brothers, George, Richard, Thomas and Robert Foster,

A Mass of Christian Burial for Arthur G. Foster will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 11:00 AM at St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemens Burial Detail.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Saturday morning, January 26, 2019 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
