Benedict A. DePrater
, 86, of 214 Taft Road, St. Marys, died at his home on Thursday, June 21, 2012 surrounded by his family.
He was born September 16, 1925 in Riceville Corners, PA, a son of the late Edward and Rosa Frey DePrater.
On May 4, 1946 in St. Marys Church, he married Phyllis Auman DePrater, who survives.
Mr. DePrater has been a resident of St. Marys since returning from the war. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII with the 63rd Infantry Division, Blood and Fire, from 1943-1945. He received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was also awarded a Purple Heart after being wounded in action in 1945. He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company in 1982 after more than 42 years of service. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mass of Christian Burial
for Benedict A. DePrater will be Celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church Street, St. Marys, on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 12:00 PM with Rev. Meinrad Lawson, O.S.B., as Celebrant.
A Military Service will be conducted by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Burial will be follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., St. Marys on Saturday morning from 10:30 - 11:30 AM.
