Bertha J. Knouse

Bertha J. Knouse , 95, a resident of Pinerest Manor and formerly of 167 Queens Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.

She was born on October 13, 1919, a daughter of the late Fred and Margaret Krug Gausman.

She was married to the late John E. Knouse, who preceded her in death on November 14, 1987.

Bertha was a lifelong resident of St. Marys, and a graduate of SMAHS, class of 1938.  She was a member of Queen of the World Church and prior to marriage she was employed at Sylvania in Emporium and the Stackpole Carbon Company.  She enjoyed talking with her friends and caregivers.

She is survived by a daughter, Jane M., Mrs. David Shaffer of St. Marys, a grandson, John Shaffer and his wife Abby of Youngsville, NC and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Gausman and a sister, Marie Gausman.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bertha J. Knouse will be celebrated on Monday, September 14, 2015, at 10:00 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, with Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Monday morning, September 14, 2015 from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM.
