Betty Frey

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Frey , 89, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of 127 Atlantic Street, St. Marys, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.

She was born on April 27, 1925, a daughter of the late Roy and Martha Jane Gonzalas Smith.

She was married to Fred Schneider, who preceded her in death in 1976.  She then married Norbert Frey, who preceded her in death in 2000.

Betty was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Marys Church.  She retried from Keystone Carbon Company after more than 32 years of service.  She enjoyed cooking, Bingo, and trips to the casino.  She was the last member of her immediate family.

She is survived by a son, Fred Schneider and his wife Shirley of St. Marys, 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her first and second husband, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, William, Rodney, John and Roy Smith, and by 5 sisters, Alice Sprague, Marie Oman, Ruth Marian, Isabelle Sprague and Dorothy Distler.  She was also preceded in death by her longtime friend, Millie Swackhammer.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth M. "Betty" Frey will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the St. Marys Church, Church St., St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
