Carl "Midge" Meyer

Carl P. "Midge" Meyer, 71, of 261 Forest View Road, St. Marys, died on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Penn Highlands DuBois following a brief illness.

He was born on April 30, 1944, in St. Marys, a son of the late Francis and Louise "Lucille" Hanes Meyer.

On May 17, 1969 in Queen of the World Church, he married Linda Schatz Meyer, who survives.

Midge was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Queen of the World Church.  Over the years, he had worked as an equipment operator at at Samick Brothers and had owned Carl Meyer Excavating.  He had also worked for Meyer Refrigeration.  He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time at Turtleback camp.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in the woods with his friends.  He was a member of the Campowner's Association where he'd also served as past president.

In addition to his wife of more than 46 years, Linda Schatz Meyer, he is survived by a son, Carl "Pudge" Meyer and his wife Jacki, two daughters, Lynn Meyer and Penny (John) Wingate, all of St. Marys, and by five grandchildren, Chase and Levi Meyer, and Carlee, Wyatt, and Tralynn Ginther.  He is also survived by three brothers, Louis (Audrey) Meyer, David (Dorothy) Meyer, and Howard (Annette) Meyer, all of St. Marys, and by three sisters, June (Stanley) Anderson, Donna (Dennis) Herbstritt and Pam (Jack) Pierotti, all of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Monica Felton and Betty Guido.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carl P. "Midge" Meyer will be celebrated on Monday, March 21, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Queen of the World Church with Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating.
Full Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
The family will receive friends at Queen of the World from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass.
