Celesta E. Thompson

Celesta E. Thompson , 87, of 544 Church Street, St. Marys, died on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk.

She was born on January 11, 1927, a  daughter of the late Anthony and Frances Friedl Fritz.

On January 14, 1956 in St. Marys Church, she married Thomas A. Thompson, who preceded her in death on September 12, 1999.

Mrs. Thompson was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of SMAHS, class of 1945.  She was a member of the St. Marys Church and had worked at Murphy's for many years.  She volunteered at the St. Marys Catholic schools and for the St. Marys Church Funeral Luncheon Committee.  She was the last member of her immediate family.

She is survived by:

Carol Thompson, Seymour, CT
Joyce (Kevin) Repa, Houston, TX
Donna (Art) Glass, Pittsburgh, PA

7 Grandchildren:
Thomas and James Morley
Casey and Paul Repa
Laurel, Jillian, and Christopher Glass

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Raymond and Edward Fritz, and by 3 sisters, Esther Kneidel, Leona Kneidel and her twin, Margaret Detsch.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Celesta E. Thompson will be celebrated on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, Church St., St. Marys with Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.


There will be no public visitation.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Marys Church or to the Community Nurses.
