Clarence J. Arnold

Clarence J. "Hans" Arnold , 98, of 640 Cedar Road, St. Marys, died on Thursday, January 22, 2015 following a short illness.

He was born on April 8, 1916, a son the late George and Mary Rumpelein Arnold.

On June 14, 1943, he married Grace E. Parisi, who preceded him in death on May 22, 1997 from Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Mr. Arnold was a lifelong resident of St. Marys and attended Catholic schools, having graduated from Central Catholic High School, class of 1934.  He served in the US Army in Germany during WWII with the 11th Armored Division.  He also served during the Korean War.  He was employed at Stackpole Carbon Company for 32 years.  He was one of the founders of Pennsylvania Pressed Metals in Emporium, PA, retiring in 1980.  He was past president of the Emporium Country Club, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was also a member of the Amercian Legion and Past President and Governor of Toastmasters.  He also sat on the board of directors for Elcam, Inc.  He attended Queen of the World Church and also served as an usher.

He is survived by 2 sons, John Arnold and his wife Saundra of Fenton, MI; and Paul Arnold and his wife Peggy of Darnstown, MD; a daughter, Lisa, Mrs. Gerard Becker of Scottsdale, AZ.  He is also survived by 2 grandchildren; David Arnold of Bethesda, MD, and Emily Arnold of San Diego, CA.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Grace Parisi Arnold, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers, George, Henry, John, Joseph, William and Charles Arnold, and by 2 sisters, Rose Gerg and Clara Heary.

Mr. Arnold was laid to rest in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery with a private ceremony.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the ALS Association (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
