Clayton Grant "Bud" Bennett, Jr.
, 62, of 295 Fairview Road, Kersey, died on unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Penn Highlands Elk.
He was born on August 6, 1953, in Ridgway, a son of the late Clayton, Sr. and Mary Lou Wonderly Bennett.
On July 19, 2008 in Kersey, he married Marsha Anderson Bennett, who survives.
Bud was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Boniface Church. In high school, he was proud of his accomplishments as a weight lifter and wrestler and had won the state championship in weight lifting. A business owner for most of his adult life, he owned and operated the Lighthouse, BB Auto Sales and Recycling Center. He was a longtime member of the Kersey Firemen's and had volunteered as a firefighter for many years and was also a member of the Army-Navy Club in Brockway. He enjoyed camping, spending time outdoors and his dogs. He also enjoyed the Steelers and trips to Salamanca. The greatest light and love of his life was his family, who described him as a pillar of the community. He was kind hearted, always helped others in need and treasured his family and grandchildren, whom he loved spending time with.
In addition to his wife, Marsha Anderson Bennett, he is survived by three daughters, Jo Ann (Ron Brant) Bennett, Mary (John Shelton) Bennett-Jin, and Donna Bennett (Aaron) Kronenwetter, all of Kersey, and a step-son, Martin "Marty" Anderson of Penfield. He is also survived by his five beloved grandchildren, Christina Bennett, Serina Bennett, Dakota Martell, Blake Kronenwetter, and Grant Jin, a brother, Robert (Jane) Bennett of St. Marys and by a sister, Diane (Jerry) Deemer of Kersey as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Clayton Grant "Bud" Bennett, Jr. will be celebrated on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at 12:00 PM at St. Boniface Church, Main Street, Kersey, with Rev. Ross Miceli, officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM.
Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
