Cloy O. Rhines , 84, of 110 Lecker Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at his home.

Cloy's life can be summed up in 3 words, he enjoyed Hallton.  He was schooled in a one room schoolhouse in Hallton and rode a train to Portland Mills for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.  He went to Ridgway for high school.  He enjoyed Hallton to the fullest, having swam, fished, and ice skated on the Clarion River.  He  worked for the gas company during his early years and then joined the Navy.  Following his discharge from the service, he went to work at Sylvania and retired after more than 26 years of service.  He knew every little deer and turkey trail throughout Hallton, and enjoyed teaching his family about the beauty of Hallton.  At his home, he was a hard worker who worked on his hands and knees to remove every weed from his perfect garden.  He will always be remembered for the beautiful garden that he kept.

In addition to his wife, Beverly Bankovic Rhines, he is survived by a daughter, Diana, Mrs. Doug Spangler, a son, Ralph "Chew" Rhines, a granddaughter, Melissa, Mrs. Brian Stahli, and a grandson, Jesse Rhines, all of St. Marys.  He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Kendra, Brady, and Aubree Stahli, a brother, Stanley (Jean) Rhines of Tappahonnock, a sister, Evelyn, Mrs. Cecil Parrett of Hallton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Rhines, a sister, Mary Kirkwood, a niece, Margelyn Parrett, and his grandson, Jamey Spangler, who died on April 10, 1998 and was his fishing buddy who he missed daily.
