d. April 8, 2022

Concetta Maria “Jennie” Emmert, 94, a resident of Misericordia Nursing Home in York, PA and formerly of Walnut Street, St. Marys, died on Friday, April 8, 2022.

She was born in Tyler, PA, a daughter of the late Angelo and Concetta Paturzo Cataldi who were immigrants from Lecce, Italy.

On April 19, 1947, she married the late William O. Emmert, who preceded her in death on January 21, 2015.

Jenny was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Queen of the World Church. Over the years, she enjoyed the time she spent volunteering at the Queen of the World school cafeteria and making many crafts for the church bazaars. She worked at the SMAHS Cafeteria several years.  Jennie was a talented seamstress and taught her daughters how to sew, crochet, knit and embroider. She and Bill enjoyed fishing and raising and canning their fresh vegetables. She loved music and could be heard singing in the halls at Country Meadows Retirement Home and Misericordia Nursing Home. One of her favorite songs was Purple Rain.  She is fondly remembered for her multitudes and variety of Christmas cookies. She taught her children and grandchildren how to make homemade pasta the old Italian way.

She is survived by two daughters; Theresa “Terry” Gentzel and her husband Dave of York, and Cynthia Emmert and her husband Andrew Bajorinas of CT, and by three grandchildren; Paul (Jenn) Cowan, Amber Cowan and Logan Kruhm, two step grandchildren Mike (Kristen) Gentzel, and Erin (Bob) Harrington and 8 great grandchildren!

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Cosimo, Francesco and Antonio and her sister Anna Marie Herzing. Jennie was the last of the Cataldi siblings.
