Darlene M. Nortum

Darlene M. Nortum , 58, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born on January 30, 1966, a daughter of the late William and Shirley Laird Evans.

Darlene was a 1985 graduate of St. Marys Area High School and was a member of Abundant Life Church. Darlene enjoyed a long career with the Housing Authority and then with the City of St. Marys, enjoying the many friendships she made along the way. Darlene was a social butterfly who loved gardening, crafting, and crocheting. She was a presence at the St. Marys Public Library, often visiting and enjoying the books, quiet calm, and talking with friends. What brought her the most joy in life was her family, especially spending time with her beloved grandson, Sam.

She is survived by one son; Brandon Nortum and his wife Emily of St. Marys; and by her beloved grandson; Sam Nortum. She was a cherished sister to Sharon Buerk of St. Marys, Yvonne (Paul) Neilson of Ridgway, and Dennis (Nancy) Evans of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, by a sister; Wanda Russell, and by a brother-in-law; Dennis Buerk.

A Celebration of Life for Darlene M. Nortum will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home with Rev. Paul McCurdy officiating.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
