David Ponist , 76, of 947 Hickory Road, St. Marys, died at his home on Sunday, September 23, 2012 surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born February 15, 1936 in Coalport, PA, a son of the late Joseph and Frances Smoko Ponist.
On July 2, 1966 in Queen of the World Church, he married Patricia Lecker Ponist, who survives.
Mr. Ponist was a member of Queen of the World Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from
1953-1958. He retired from GKN in Emporium after more than 25 years of service. He enjoyed watching the Steelers and being at his home. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 2 grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of more than 46 years, Patricia Lecker Ponist, he is survived by:

Mass of Christian Burial
for David Ponist will be Celebrated at the Queen Of The World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, on
Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM
with Rev. Michael Ferrick, Pastor, as Celebrant.
Military Honors will be conducted by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
