Dorothy U. Spangler

November 6, 1938 — July 29, 2014

Dorothy U. Spangler , 75, of 467 Main Street, Kersey, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk.

She was born on November 6, 1938, a daughter of the late Gabriel Uljon and Mary Kordon Uljon Kofler.

On September 27, 1957 in St. Marys Church, she married Robert Spangler, who survives.

Dorothy was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central High School, class of 1956.  She was a member of St. Boniface Church, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister.  She retired from St. Marys Carbon after more than 31 years of service.  She was a member of the Fox Township Senior Center and enjoyed her dogs, Daisy and Duchess.  She also enjoyed camping, ceramics and playing cards.  She also liked planting and her flowers, and will always be remembered for having a smile on her face.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. especially her grandsons.

In addition to her husband and best friend, Robert Spangler, she is survived by 2 daughters; Laurie Ann (Keith) Rogers of Kersey and Kim (Charles) Himes of Johnstown; 2 grandsons, Zachary Rogers of Kersey and Joshua Rogers of Alaska; a brother, Gabriel (Sandy) Uljon of St. Marys and by 3 sisters; Mary Ann Zaleski of Tennessee, Helen Schauer of Greensburg, and Margaret (Joseph) Resch of Kersey.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Linda Uljon and Susie Baron.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy U. Spangler will be celebrated on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Church, Main St., Kersey with Fr. James Falusczcak, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.


Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Boniface Church or to the Community Nurses, Inc.
