Earl C. Lecker
, 78, of St. Marys, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 27, 2012 while visiting his daughter, Amy Lecker Lynn in Bristow, VA.
Earl was born May 27
th
, 1934 in St. Marys, a son of the late Norbert and Caroline Lecker, and was one of eleven children.
On November 21, 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy, and fought in the Korean War. He devoted four years of his life serving our country, and was very proud to be Korean War veteran.
Shortly before being honorably discharged from the Navy, he met the love of his life, and on January 12, 1956, he married Grace M. Remick, who preceded him in death on February 18, 2010.
Mr. Lecker resided the majority of his life in St. Marys, and was self-employed as a contractor/plasterer, although it is his plastering for which he is most well known for. With skillful hands, and his artistic talent, Earl Lecker can be accredited for plastering the greater part of all homes in St. Marys, and the surrounding areas.
Earl’s passion in life was his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his brand-new great grandson, and his beloved shelties, Princess and Angel, for whom were his constant companions, and gave him much comfort following the passing of his beloved wife, Grace.
Earl is survived by his four children, Keith Lecker and his wife Judy, of St. Marys, Cindy, Mrs. David Brock, of State College, Candy Lecker Lease of DuBois, and Amy Lecker Lynn, Mrs. Timothy Lynn, of Bristow, VA.
In addition, Earl is the proud Papa of eleven grandchildren; Brian Smith, Courtney Lecker, Melissa Smith Ovaska, Megan Shulik, Chelsea Retzer, Missy Murray, Michael Smith, Nicky Davido, Erin Brock, Gabriel Lynn and Joseph Lease. He recently also became a very proud great-“pompa” to Grayson Lee Smith.
He is also survived by a brother, Frank Lecker and his wife Linda of St. Marys, and three sisters, Sr. Mary David, O.S.B, of St. Marys, Marian Mertz of St. Marys and Jane Moylan of DuBois.
In addition to his wife of more than 54 years, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Clarence, LaVern and Richard Lecker, a sister, Bernice Kline and a sister in early childhood, Martha Lecker.
In accordance with Earl's wishes, funeral services for Earl C. Lecker will be held privately
. Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in Kersey.
