Ellen E. Schreiber

Ellen E. Schreiber , 89, of Queens Road, St. Marys, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.

She was born on November 23, 1935 in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late John "Kicker" and Elizabeth "Bea" (Gillen) Gapinski. She graduated from Johnsonburg High School, class of 1953.

On May 4, 1955, she married the late Robert "Bob" Schreiber, who preceded her in death on March 1, 2007. They were wed for 52 years until his passing.

Ellen was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church. She worked at Queen of the World School and Johnson's Grocery. She enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting, baking and polka music.

She is survived by her son; Ron and this wife Mary of Menasha, WI, and her daughter; Karen Moorhead and her husband Paul of DuBois. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Jen, Lisa, Steve, Kathleen, Gavin, and Will; and by two great-grandchildren; Chase and Ryley. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Joe Judice of Ridgway, and two sisters-in-law; Connie Schreiber of St. Marys, and Ann Gapinski of San Antonio, TX, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son; James, in infancy, and by three siblings; Sally Redmond, Ted Gapinski, and Jane Judice

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ellen E. Schreiber will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Ignatius Camello, OSB, as celebrant.

Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
