Francis M. Gerber , 88, of 188 Wehler Road, St. Marys, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 13, 2011.

He was born February 1, 1922 in St. Marys, a son of the late Bernard and Theresa Wendel Gerber.
On August 24, 1944 in St. Joseph Church in Force, he married the late Mary L. Parziale Gerber, who preceded him in death on January 28, 2005.

Mr. Gerber was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Queen of the World Church where both he and his wife were instrumental in the building of the church.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945 during WWII.  He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 40 years of service.  He was a member of the American Legion, where he had also served as Past Commander.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending the winters in Myrtle Beach.  He especially enjoyed playing his accordion and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Parziale Gerber, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Floyd and Dennis Gerber.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Francis M. Gerber will be celebrated at Queen Of The World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM  with Rev. Michael Ferrick, Pastor, as Celebrant.
Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., St. Marys, on Sunday from 2-5 PM.
