Frank J. Dinsmore

Frank J. Dinsmore , 79, of 521 Armory Road, St. Marys, died on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Elk Haven Nursing Home  following the onset of a brief illness.

He was born on June 04, 1937, a son of the late Frank and Gertrude Schneider Dinsmore.

On August 10, 1963 in Sacred Heart Church, he married Georgia Robertson Dinsmore, who survives.

Frank was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central High School, class of 1955.  He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of Sacred Heart Church.  He retired as a state employee after many years at the St. Marys Unemployment Office.  He also worked at Ivan's for more than 25 years.  He was a member of the Toastmaster's, the United Way, and the ECC Athletic Association, where he also served as past president.  Affectionately known as Papa D, he enjoyed sports and spending time with his grandchildren.


In addition to his wife of more than 52 years, Georgia Robertson Dinsmore, he is survived by three daughters, Paula (Pete) Singer of St. Marys, Patti (Paul) Bierley of St. Marys, and Susie (Jerel) Foster of Mifflinburg.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kate, Dan and Frank Singer, Josh and Jarret Foster and Chloe and Madison Bierley and by two sisters, Clarice Dinsmore of St. Marys and Lucille Goodreau of El Segundo, CA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis, James and John Dinsmore, and by four sisters, Audrey Bauer, Shirley Johnson, Monica Martin and Trudy Dinsmore.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank J. Dinsmore will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating.
Full Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Elk County Catholic School System, Sacred Heart Church or to Elk Haven Nursing Home.
