Frank W. Garner

Frank W. Garner , 90, of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 544 Kerner Avenue, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 following a lengthy illness.

He was born February 20, 1922 in St. Marys, a son of the late Karl and Verna Zeigler Garner.
On December 5, 1949 in St. Marys Church, he married the late Bertha Herzing Garner, who preceded him in death in 1989.

Mr. Garner was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of the St. Marys Church.  He served in the US Army during WWII and was the recipient of a Purple Heart after being wounded in Germany in 1944.  He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 35 years of service and was also a member of the Quarter Century Club.  He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.  He also generously volunteered much of his time at the St. Joseph Convent for many years.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wayne and Bryce Garner and a sister, Faye Bogart.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank W. Garner will be Celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church Street, St. Marys, on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Meinrad Lawson, O.S.B., as Celebrant.
A Military Service will be conducted by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.

Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael Street, St. Marys on Monday morning from 8:30-9:30 AM.
