Gilbert A. Sorg , 97, of 160 Wehler Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center following a short illness.
He was born January 3, 1914 in St. Marys, PA, a son of the late Michael and Mary Dendorfer Sorg.
On March 2, 1942 in Sacred Heart Church he married the late Mary Bon Sorg, who preceded him in death on January 15, 1994.
Mr. Sorg was a member of Queen of the World Church.  He served with the US Army during WW II in France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe and received a service metal with 4 bronze stars. He retired from Industrial Pipe & Steel Company after many years of service.  Many years ago he also worked in the coal mines.  He was a building contractor, having built his own home as well as several other homes in the area.  He was a very skilled handyman and artist with creek stone.  He was a regular at the Farmer's Market, which he enjoyed for many years.  He was a member of the American Legion and the Campowners Association.  He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gilbert A. Sorg will be Celebrated on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 10 AM Queen Of The World Church with Rev. Michael Ferrick, Pastor, as Celebrant.
A Military Service will be conducted by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.

Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., St. Marys on Thursday evening from 5-8 PM.

Memorial Contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
