Jean M. Nero

Jean M. Nero , 84, of W. Oilwell St., St. Marys, died on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.

She was born on May 14, 1929 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Clarence Margaret Stauffer Schauer.

On November 23, 1950, in St. Marys Church, she married Ray Nero, who survives.

Jean was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a graduate of Central High School, class of 1946.  She retired from Elk Regional Health Center after more than 38 years of service, where she was well known and loved throughout the hospital.  Jean enjoyed reading, playing cards and knitting.  She also enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the years to their grandchildren's sporting events and was a kind and generous wife, mother and grandmother who greatly enjoyed spending time with her family

In addition to her beloved husband of more than 63 years, Ray Nero, she is survived by 4 daughters, Mary, Mrs. Robert "Elvie" Hayes of St. Marys, Barbara, Mrs. James Dinsmore of Wellsboro, Diane, Mrs. Kevin Kohler of California and Paula, Mrs. Larry Sheehan of St. Marys.  She is also survived by 7 grand children, Nick (Kippy) Dinsmore, Tony Dinsmore, Ray (Tisa) Penny, Chelsea Penny, Danny Hayes, Gina Hayes and Ellie Hayes; 5 great grand children; J.R., Nora, Savannah, Charlotte and Raylin; a sister-in-law, Helen Schauer of Greensburg as well as many nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Schauer, and her grandmother who was very special to her, Barbara Stauffer.

There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jean M. Nero will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street St. Marys, PA with Fr. Eric Vogt, OSB as celebrant.  Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
