Jerome G. Herzing

Jerome G. Herzing , 92, of 1668 Bucktail Road, St. Marys, died on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois from complications of Covid.

He was born on April 29, 1928, in St. Marys, a son of the late Mathias and Mary Zimmett Herzing.

On September 30, 1948 in St. Marys Church, he married the love of his life, Esther Vollmer, who survives of St. Marys.  Together they shared nearly 73 years of love, laughter, and happiness, with two hearts becoming one the day they wed.

Jerry was a member of Queen of the World Church.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948 and retired from Speer Carbon after many years of service. Avid travelers, Sis and Jerry visited 49 states over the years, adventuring to anywhere the wind took them.  Some of his other past times included hunting, water aerobics, and poetry.  One of Jerry's greatest joys in life was Swissmont Camp, which was his homestead and the family camp that he loved to spend time at with his wife and family.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by six daughters; Paula Coudriet and her husband Robert "Denny" of St. Marys, Mary Hahn and her husband Chuck of Kersey, Gloria Kaveney and her husband Tom of St. Marys, Debbie Swackhammer and her husband Richard "Dutch" of St. Marys, Janice Blair and her husband Jan of Ohio, and Joyce Sorg and her husband Anthony "Tony" of St. Marys, and four sons; Michael Herzing and his wife Kim of Wyoming, Matthew Herzing and his wife Lori of Colorado, Mark Herzing and his wife Kate of Colorado and Gerald "Jay" Herzing of Texas.  He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son in early childhood, Jerome Herzing, and by a sister, Edna Buerk.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome G. Herzing will be celebrated on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 10:30 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857  with Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Due to current restrictions, visitation will be held privately at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Penn Highlands Community Nurses or to Queen of the World Church.
