John B. "Bruce" Bauer,
89, of Rightmeyer Street, St. Marys, passed away on Monday evening, July 1, 2024, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
He was born on August 7, 1934 in St. Marys, PA, a son of the late Richard and Marie Vollmer Bauer.
On November 1, 1969, in Emporium, he married Roselyn Bauer, who preceded him in death on December 20, 2007. Together they shared more than 38 years of marriage.
Bruce was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central High School. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and retired from the Post Office after many years of service as a rural mail carrier. He also worked for a number of years at Sylvania and as a cement mason.
In his free time, Bruce enjoyed spending time outdoors. He enjoyed the quiet solace of a hike, and always enjoyed taking his two beloved dogs for a walk. He never turned down the chance to take a ride to East Branch Dam or Twin Lakes, and loved camping there as well. Over the years, he was proud to be a blood donor, having donated many gallons of blood. Bruce was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, especially the Pirates.
He is survived by four sons; Victor Bauer of Pittsburgh, David (Holly) Krug of State College, Jerry (Mary) Krug of St. Marys, and Terry Krug of St. Marys and by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son; Shawn Krug on May 12, 2024 and by three brothers; Ken, Gary, and Richard Bauer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for John B. "Bruce" Bauer will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church,337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Thomas Curry, OSB as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received at the Sacred Heart Church on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 10:15 AM until the time of the Mass.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church.
