John G. Herzing

John G. Herzing, 74, of 164 Terrace Road, St. Marys, died at his home on Sunday, December 26, 2010 following a brief illness.
He was born September 11, 1936 in St. Marys, a son of the late John A. C. and Bertha Weinzierl Herzing.

On May 16, 1959 in Queen of the World Church, he married Loretta Anderson Herzing, who survives.

Mr. Herzing was a member of the St. Marys Church.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.  He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 38 years of service.  He later worked at Windfall Products and for the County of Elk.  He was an avid golfer.

Family/Survivors:
In addition to his wife of more than 51 years, Loretta Anderson Herzing, he is survived by:
Daughter: Davida Ann Rhine, Erie
Sister: Hyacinth Dauer, St. Marys
Sister: Pauline Fritz, St. Marys
Sister: Bernice Lecker, St. Marys
Brother: Kenneth Herzing and his wife Mary Lou, St. Marys
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including a special great-nephew, Jon Leuschel, of whom he was very fond.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Scholastica Weidenboerner, Valery Lambert, Audrey Skiba & Faith Holben and by one brother, Aurelius Herzing.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for John G. Herzing will be celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 139 Church Street, St. Marys, on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Meinrad Lawson, O.S.B., as celebrant.

Military funeral honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Inurnment will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
