Joseph L. "Buzzy" Herbstritt
, 83, of 136 Madison Street, St. Marys, died on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Pinecrest Manor.
He was born on May 28, 1937, in St. Marys, a son of the late Merle and Marcella Leithner Herbstritt.
On November 28, 1957 in the Queen of the World Church, he married Helen Greenthaner Herbstritt, who survives.
Joseph was a lifelong resident of the area. In 1999 he retired from Mersen after many years of service. He was a member of the CMF and PFL Clubs.
He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and fixing lawnmowers in his garage. He also enjoyed playing guitar and sharing a "cold one" with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; George Herbstritt and Edward Herbstritt and his wife Missy, all of St. Marys, three daughters; Deb Erich of Toby, Suzanne Penfield and her husband Scott and Betsy Schreiber and her husband Bob, all of St. Marys, by nine grandchildren; Jason (Jess), Amanda, Megan (Eric), Jacinda (Joel), Logan, Austin, Allen (Laura), Alex (Andrea) and Timothy and by six great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister; Helen (Kenneth) Salter of St. Marys.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Herbstritt in 1970 and by one brother, John "Jack" Herbstritt.
Funeral Services for Joseph L. Herbstritt will be held Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home with Rev. Ross Miceli officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Shriner's Hospitals.
