Lamonte L. Lewis

Lamonte L. Lewis , 75, of Wilson Road, St. Marys, died on Saturday August 20, 2022 at Penn Highlands Elk following a lengthy illness.

He was born on October 19, 1946, in Wellsville, NY, a son of the late Hallie L. Lewis, Sr. and Jane Hall Lewis.

On August 9, 1969, in St. Marys Church, he married the love of his life, Jean F. Tucker, who survives.

Lamonte worked at Stackpole Carbon for 18 years and then retired from The Daily Press after more than 27 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed going on fishing trips with his children on Lake Erie. He enjoyed spending time at many of the area clubs and was a member of the PFL, CMF, K of C, and the American Legion. Lamonte loved nothing more than spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Jean Tucker Lewis, he is survived by two sons at home; Travis Lewis and Derrick Lewis, two daughters; Daphne (Harold) Morris and Melody Lewis, both of St. Marys, by 6 grandchildren; Jermaine, Jeremy, Willy, Linda, Ethan, and Body, and by 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister; Katherine H. Tucker of Johnsonburg, by numerous nieces and nephews, and by a dear friend; Alfred Lamb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Hallie L. Lewis Jr, a sister; Sandra E. Schill, and by his stepmother; Ruth Sterling Lewis.

Funeral Services for Lamonte L. Lewis will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home with Deacon Bill Gibson officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
