Larry A. Swanson

Larry A. Swanson , 62, of 407 Main Street, Kersey, died on Monday, August 24, 2015 at UPMC St. Margaret following a short illness.

He was born on August 23, 1953, in Kersey, a son of the late Gust B. and Helen L. Smith Swanson.

Larry was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Maria Lutheran Church in Kersey.  He graduated from SMAHS, class of 1972.  Over the years, he worked at Stackpole Carbon Company, JRW and Thompson's Machining.  He was a longtime member of the Fox Township Firemen's Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to and watching the races.  He was an avid yard-saler and loved spending Saturday mornings going to yard sales.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his companion and longtime fiance, Patricia Buchheit, he is survived by four daughters, Diane (Doug) Schreiber of Johnsonburg; Karen Hepler of St. Marys; Liz Buchheit of Ridgway and Laura Buchheit of Kersey, seven grandchildren, Christina Schaberl, Rebecca and Ryan Hepler, Mackenzie Prechtl, Mason Bartlett, Kayla Dicksinson, and Sophia Harvey and by 2 great-grandchildren, Brayden Schaberl and Andrew Gerg.  He is also survived by two brothers, Richard Swanson of Toby and Gerald Swanson of Kersey, a nephew, Steven Swanson of St. Marys and a niece, Tracy Wilcox of Brockway.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Swanson

A Memorial Service for Larry A. Swanson will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Maria Lutheran Church, 123 Toby Road, Kersey, PA 15846  with Rev. Erik Hart, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Maria Lutheran Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fox Township Fire Department.
