Leander M. Ginther

January 16, 1920 — April 13, 2015

Leander M. "Lee" Ginther , 95, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Kersey, died on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Penn Highlands Elk following a short illness.

He was born on January 16, 1920, a son of the late Anthony and Julia Wolfe Ginther.

On February 14, 1942 in Sacred Heart Church, he married Catherine Supon Ginther, who preceded him in death on January 16, 1995.

Lee was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Boniface Church.  He served in the US Army Corp of Engineers from 1942-1946 during WWII.  He retired from Keystone Carbon Company after many years of service.  He was a member of the Fox Township Legion and enjoyed farming and polka dancing.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Zielinski and her husband Denis of Mount Dora, FL, 2 grandsons, Brian Zielinski of St. Petersburg, FL and Mark (Morgan) Zielinski of Berlin, NY.  He is also survived by 3 brothers, Gervase Ginther of St. Marys,Jordan (Mildred) Ginther of Toby, and Oliver (Jane) Ginther of Wisconsin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Alvin Ginther and Earl Ginther, and by 3 sisters, Anita Krellner, Vera Flynn and Mary Ginther in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Leander M. Ginther will be celebrated on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Church, 355 Main St., Kersey, PA with Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Fox Township Burial Detail.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
