Leo H. Selle
, 100, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, and formerly of Woodland Road, St. Marys, died peacefully on Monday evening, October 18, 2021 at Pinecrest Manor.
He was born on August 18, 1921, in St. Marys, a son of the late Joseph and Margaret Caskey Selle.
He was married to the late Madelyn M. Davison, she preceded him in death on June 29, 1991. He then married Alma Shumaker White, and she preceded him in death on August 8, 1993.
Leo was a lifelong resident of the area and member of St. Marys Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during WWII, serving from 1942-1946, and was a member of the American Legion. He was one of the founding members of the the St. Marys Beagle Club, which he enjoyed spending time at over the years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also enjoyed carpentry work.
He is survived by three children; Marilyn Selle of Bradford, William Selle and his wife Robin of Shermans Dale, and John Selle and his wife June of Duncannon, by two grandchildren; Sarah Selle and J.J. Selle, two step-grandchildren; Renee Travers and Jennifer Haehnlen and by two step great-grandchildren; Camden and Masina. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Arlene Wehler of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first and second wives, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Francis Selle, George Selle, Fr. Paulinas Selle and Henry Selle, and by four sisters; Bertha Anderson, Julia Pontzer, Marcella Michaels, and Margaret Nekuza. He was the last member of his immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leo H. Selle will be celebrated on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 12:00 PM at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys, Pa 15857 with Rev. Kevin Holland officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Vincent Archabbey or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
