Lorenza M. Lecker

November 2, 1930 — February 11, 2018

Lorenza M. Lecker , 87, of 1156 S. Michael Road, St. Marys, died on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Penn Highlands DuBois following a lengthy illness.

She was born on November 2, 1930, in Austin, PA, daughter and thirteenth child of the late George and Gertrude Harrier Hoak.

On October 18, 1952 in Sacred Heart Church, she married the love of her life and soulmate, Richard G. Lecker, who preceded her in death on April 23, 2002 after nearly 50 years of marriage.

Together with her husband, they built their home on South Michael Road and often told stories of how they built the fireplace, brick by brick, mixing the cement by hand.  Together they also fostered 36 children.
She is survived by five daughters, Carol (Donald) Ginther of Kersey, Anita Belleau of Kersey, Martha Lecker, at home, Nancy (Clarence) Neal, of Marshville, NC, and Mary Lou Lecker of Glen Campbell, PA; and by two sons, Richard (Sutton) Lecker and Herbert Lecker, both of Johnsonburg,  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Dawn (Christopher) Erich, Russ (Lupita Kilby) Ginther, Julie (Casey) Lundy, Neil (Caryn) Ginther, Jason (Missy Inzana) Chicola, Alicia (Joe Barber) Chicola, Martin Chicola, Bo (Jennifer) Neal, Rick Neal, Olivia Neal, Delayna Lecker, Lizzie Lecker, Zackary Lecker and Richie Lecker, as well as by 19 great-grandchildren, Amber, Austin, Jared, Maxwell, Lindsey, Paige, Tyson, Gabriella, Ian, Mia, Ava, Jaylen, Braeden, Elijah, Christian, Ares, Alexious, Rebecca, and Daniel and was also expecting three more great grandbabies in 2018.

Lorenza worked at St. Bonaventure College prior to her marriage and had also worked at Stackpole Carbon and Keystone Carbon Companies.  Most of her married life was spent as a stay at home mother.  She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren,

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Paul Belleau, by nine sisters, Adeline Harrier, Marion Duell, Geraldine Watson, Geneva Ball, Faye Williams, Ines VanAlstine, Gladys Lamb, Flo Dewey and an infant sister at birth, and by six brothers, James, Fairfax, Russell, Walter, George, Jr., amd Paul Hoak.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lorenza M. Lecker will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 2:00 PM at St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA with Fr. Peter Augustine Pierjok, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.


Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Community Nurses Adult Day Services.
