Margaret “Marge” Schaberl Forster
, 99, a recent resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 979 Johnsonburg Road, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the nursing home.
She was born on November 26, 1913 in Daguscahonda in a boarding house run by her mother, Gertrude Schaberl.
On October 10, 1935, she married the late Henry "Hank" Forster in St. Marys Church, where they celebrated 4 very special anniversaries. Hank preceded her in death on June 28, 2002 after nearly 67 years of marriage.
Marge had a great love for the St. Marys Catholic Church. She received the sacraments of baptism, first communion, confirmation and marriage at that church. Marge graduated from Central High School, Class of 1931. She was a home maker, farm helper, and volunteer in many places including the St. Marys Historical Society.
Marge is survived by one son, Dale Forster and his wife, Janet, of St. Marys, two daughters, Lois D’Amore of St. Marys and Ellen Pichler and her husband, Bill of Kersey.
She is survived by 10 grandchildren – John (fiancée DeAnn Lansberry) Forster, Bruce (Corina) Forster, and Terry (Gloria) Forster; Bill (Dee) Pichler, Jennifer (Ken) Quagliani and Anne (Brian) Wolfel; and Nick D’Amore, Melanie (Mark) Phillips, Marcy (Justin) Davis and Tony (Sarah) D’Amore, Jr. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Marge was the last surviving member of her family. In addition to her husband, Hank, and her parents, John and Gertrude Riddle Schaberl and George Fleishman, she was preceded in death by one son in infancy, John Roger Forster; a granddaughter, Kimberly Forster; a great grandson, Christopher Forster; a grandson, Timothy Pichler; a son-in-law, Anthony "Tony" D’Amore, Sr.; a nephew, Karl Schaberl; one sister, Ann Malburg and five brothers, Norbert, Elmer, & John Schaberl and Alfred and Philip Fleishman.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret "Marge" Schaberl Forster will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys with Fr. Meinrad Lawson, O.S.B., as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Marys Catholic Church or to a charity of choice.
