Marian B. Viglione

Marian B. Viglione , 87, of 578 Oak Street, Kersey, and formerly of Brusselles Street, St. Marys, died on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.

She was born on February 13, 1933, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Paul and Loretta Wehler Bankovich.

On September 7, 1957 in Queen of the World Church, she married the late Ignatius J. Viglione, who preceded her in death on August 6, 2005.

Marian was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of Central High School.  She was a longtime member of Queen of the World, and became of member of St. Boniface following her move to Kersey.  She had been active as a volunteer at both Queen of the World and St. Boniface throughout the years.  She began her career at Speer Carbon Company, and then worked and retired from Queen of the World School after many years of service.  She was also a member of the Kersey Firemens Club.  She enjoyed playing cards and crossword puzzles, but most of all she loved and cherished her family. Affectionately known as "Granny" to those who knew and loved her, she always enjoyed a nice cold Straub draft.

She is survived by one son; Jude Viglione and his wife Rebecca of Kersey, two granddaughters; Sadie (Elliott Mahoney) Viglione and Sophia (Nathan Straub) Viglione.  She is also survived by two sisters; Marcella "Sally" Stanisch and Esther Kirkland, both of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers; Jerome "Beezie" Bankovich, Leander "Pint" Bankovich, Norman Bankovich and Paul in infancy, and by two sisters; Helen "Mutchie" Wendel and Alice Schade.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marian B. Viglione will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Church, 355 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846 with Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor , officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the St. Boniface Church Gathering Space on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM .

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Elk County Catholic School System.
