Marie E. Young

Marie E. "GG" Young , 80, of 1025 Johnsonburg Road and formerly of 416 Rightmeyer Street, St. Marys, died on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

She was born on July 15, 1937, in Lackawanna, NY a daughter of the late  Jerry L. and Dorothy M. Buerk Reed.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1956.  Marie was also a member of the St. Marys Church and a former employee of Pfaff's Market, retiring in 2012 at age 75.

On October 27, 1956, in St. Marys Church, she married James T. Young I, who preceded her in death on January 30, 2010.

Marie was affectionately known by most as GG.  She enjoyed spending her time with family and always looked forward to breakfast on Sunday mornings with her sisters, brothers, and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ditson and her husband Jessie of Johnstown and Gretchen Trask of St. Marys, by two sons, Michael Young and his wife Dianne of St. Marys, and James Young, II and his wife Christine of Weedville, by eight grandchildren, Marie Arnold, Nick (Anne) Arnold, Michael "Devin" (Stephanie) Young, Emily (Jamie) Baker, Anna (David) Bish, Caleb Young, Jarod Young and Cole Young, and by eight great-grandchildren, Caiden Baker, Adrian (Alex Klender) Bish, Olivia and Natalynn Young, Joshua Baker, and Hunter, Tucker and Molly Jo Bish.

She is also survived by four brothers, Bruce (Peggy) Reed of Ridgefield, WA, Glenn "Bob" (Alice) Reed of Dunkirk, NY, Donald "Stretch"  (Kim) Reed and David (Lori) Reed, both of Emporium, five sisters, Betty (Harold "Buster") Erich of Emporium, Dorothy Kunkle of St. Marys, Judy (Don) Schrubb of Weedville, Lois (Dan) Dolan of Bluffton, NC, and Donna (Terry) Grainer of Addis, LA, a sister-in-law, Mary Bauer and a brother-in-law, Anthony (Jane) Young, both of St. Marys, an uncle, Chris (Shirley) Buerk of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Trask, a brother, Jerry "Bud" Reed, a sister, Dolores Kitchen, and by a sister in infancy, Patricia Reed.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie E. Young will be celebrated on Monday, April 30, 2018, at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys, PA with Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Together with her late husband, they will both be inurned in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
