Marlene G. Braun , 81, of 331 Braun Rd., St. Marys, PA died at PennHighlands-Elk, St. Marys, PA on Saturday (June 3, 2017) afternoon.
She was born June 29, 1935 in St. Marys, PA a daughter of the late Albert and Beatrice Krieg Samick, Sr. On August 3, 1957 in St. Marys, PA she married the late Leo “Braunie” Braun.
Mrs. Braun graduated from the former Central High School. She graduated from nursing school in Erie and became a registered nurse. She then married, raised her family and was a stay at home mother, later returned to nursing from which she retired. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and attending the Community Nurses Adult Daycare twice a week. She also greatly enjoyed long conversations on her front porch .
Surviving are three daughters: Vicky Weinzierl and Bill Schatz; Patricia Wendel and Jay Meyer; Carol Gray and Chris all of St. Marys; two sons: Joseph Braun and Amy; and Stephen Braun all of St. Marys; ten grandchildren, Alyssa Wennin, BJ Wendel, Travis and Brandon Weinzierl, Derek Boschert, Carley Gray, Devin Braun, Kelsey Braun, Kristin Rodriguez and Gavin Wennin; one great grandson, Beckett Wennin; and one brother Robert Samick, Ridgway.
She was preceeded in death by her parents: Albert and Beatrice Krieg Samick, Sr.; husband, Leo “Braunie” Braun; a brother, Albert “Junie” Samick, Jr.; three sisters, Alberta "Bertie" Ehrensberger, Gertrude Gardner & Helen Fredrickson.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church Street, St. Marys, PA on Wednesday (June 7, 2017) at 10:00 AM with Rev. Alfred Patterson, O.S.B., as Celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, St. Marys, PA.
