Mary S. Friedl

Mary S. Friedl , 95, formerly of 243 Charles Street, St. Marys, died on Saturday, July 16, 2016 following a short illness.

She was born on November 21, 1920, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Frank and Theresa Lechner Schneider.

On September 27, 1947, in St. Marys Church, she married the late Thomas "Peeper" Friedl, who preceded her in death on August 28, 1991.

Mary was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central High School, class of 1938.  She then graduated from the St. Vincent School of Nursing in Erie as a Registered Nurse.  She was a member of the St. Marys Church where she was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society and sang in the choir for many years.  She was a longtime member of the Nurse's Study Club and enjoyed knitting.  She also especially enjoyed going to McDonald's for breakfast with her friends.  Most of all, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Audrey, Mrs. Blaine Murray of St. Marys, two sons, Frank Friedl and his wife Bernadette of Glendale, and Peter Friedl and his wife Katherine of Wake Forest, NC, and by six grandchildren, Thomas Friedl, Dr. Amy (Garrett) Marin, Kelly Murray, Molly Murray, Alexandra Friedl and Jared Friedl and by one great-granddaughter, Judy Marin.  She is also survived by two sisters, Laura Andres of Catonsville, MD and Therese Mullaney of St. Marys, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerome Schneider and Francis Schneider, by two sisters, Mildred Conway and Sr. Callista Schneider, OSB, and by a sister in infancy, Dolores Schneider.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary S. Friedl will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 12:00 PM at the St. Marys Church, Church St., St. Marys, PA with Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday morning from 10:30 until 11:30 AM.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Marys Church, Elk County Catholic School System or to the Nurse's Study Club.
