Mitzie B. (Jameson) Swanson

December 22, 1930 — February 7, 2018

Mitzie B. Swanson , 87, of 6220 Boone Mountain Rd., Kersey, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 22, 1930 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Bozin and Bozna Ristic Jameson.
On Dec. 20, 1947 in First Lutheran Church in Ridgway, she married Robert "Twinny" Swanson, who preceded her in death Oct. 6, 2009.
Mitzie was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Maria Lutheran Church in Dagus Mines. She enjoyed her puzzles, crosswords and playing Scrabble. She was faithful to her church and especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren.
Mitzie is survived by seven children, Sue (Joe) McClain of Weedville, Bob (Walle) Swanson of Kersey, Cathy (Rick) Taylor of Kersey, Jim (Patty) Swanson of Kersey, John (Tina) Swanson of Gibsonia, Tina (Doug) Distler of Kersey and Stacey (John) Young of Franklin; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Bateman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sophie Hillebrand.
Funeral services for Mitzie B. Swanson will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. at Maria Lutheran Church, 123 Toby Rd., Dagus Mines, with Rev. Erik Hart, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Maria Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Maria Lutheran Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
