Paul J. Nicklas
, 82, of 709 Evergreen Road, St. Marys, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.
He was born on September 20, 1931, a son of the late Jerome and Dorothy Simbeck Nicklas.
On July 2, 1955 in St. Leo's Church, he married Patricia Himes Nicklas, who survives.
Paul was a member of St. Marys Church and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 43 years of service. He was a member of the Tri-County Chapter of Hog and greatly enjoyed motorcycles. He also enjoyed cars, mechanical work and fishing.
In addition to his wife of more than 59 years, he is survived by 2 sons, David (Evelyn) Nicklas of Kersey, and Jude (Rebecca) Nicklas of Cincinatti, OH, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Frances Zimmerman of St. Marys, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Nicklas on December 27, 1976, and by 2 sisters, Marie Walker and Cecelia Prechtl.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul J. Nicklas will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 12:00 PM at St. Marys Church, Church St., St. Marys with Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.
Full Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Community Nurses, Inc. or to Pinecerst Manor.
