Paula R. Galmish, 75, of St. Marys, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
She was born on August 11, 1948 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late William and Margaret Prechtel Galmish.
Paula was a member of Queen of the World Church, where she was also a member of the Oblates and Cursillo. She a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, class of 1967 and then attended Mercyhurst University in Erie. She spent some time as a Sister with The Sisters of Mercy, and had a very strong faith. She worked as a Peer Counselor for more than 12 years at the Dickinson Center, where she was a dedicated advocate for mental health services. She greatly enjoyed her cats as well as photography, and could often be found taking pictures of scenery. She will be remembered for her kindness and friendship to all she met.
Paula is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Michael (Rochelle) Stewart, Stephanie Galmish, Joe Galmish, Steve Galmish, Regina Galmish, Jackie Galmish, Tracy (Mike) Tyger, Cindy (Rob) Jaconski and Dewayne (Nanette) Galmish, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister in law, Deb Galmish.
In addition to her parents, Paula was preceded in death by three brothers; Richard Galmish, Dennis Galmish, and Kenneth Galmish, by a sister; Linda Stewart, a sister in law, Linda Galmish, by three nephews; Billy Galmish, Stephen Stewart, and Richard Stewart, and by two nieces; Gwen and Michelle Stewart.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Paula R. Galmish will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Catholic Church, Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, as celebrant.
Family and friends will be received at St. Marys Church on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass.
Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Dickinson Center or to St. Marys Church.
