Raymond J, "Pete" Meyer
, 88, of 1123 S. Michael Road, St. Marys, died on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Pinecrest Manor following a short illness.
He was born on March 8, 1927, a son of the late George and Julia Salter Meyer.
Pete was a lifelong resident of the area and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He enjoyed playing his accordion and harmonica.
He is survived by a son Peter of Ridgway, a brother, Ellsworth "Buddy" Meyer and his wife Germaine, and by two sisters, Rita VanAlstyne, and Martha Griffin, all of St. Marys. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 8 brothers, Arthur Meyer, Harold "Eddie" Meyer, George "Sonny" Meyer, Francis "Tootie" Meyer, Floyd "Buzzy" Meyer, Robert Meyer, Merle Meyer and James Meyer, by a sister, Hazel Gaffey, and by his lifelong companion, Emma Anderson.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond J, "Pete" Meyer will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at 12:00 PM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys with Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemens Burial Detail.
Interment will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Community Nurses.
