Rena "Joy" Gleixner

Rena I. "Joy" Gleixner, 87, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Cedar Road, St. Marys, died on Friday, May 23, 2014 following a lengthy illness.

She was born on April 5, 1927, a daughter of the late Vere and Jennifer Knarr Swesey.

On June 15, 1950 in Emporium, she married Edward L. Gleixner, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 15, 2010.

Joy was a graduate of Emporium High School and a member of Sacred Heart Church.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by 3 sons, Edward (Laura) Gleixner of Kersey; Larry (Jane) Gleixner of St. Marys; Ronald Gleixner of Weedville; 2 daughters, Trudy, Mrs. Joseph Boylan of St. Marys; Lori, Mrs. Mark Sicheri of Kersey and a daughter-in-law, Julia Gleixner of St. Marys.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Della Swesey of St. Marys.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ritchie Gleixner in 2006, 2 brothers, Jim and Jake Swesey; a step-brother, Don Minard and a sister, Mary Reynolds.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rena Gleixner will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys with Rev. Eric Vogt, O.S.B., officiating.

Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
