Robert J. Rigard , 84 of 131 Beech Road, St. Marys, died on Tuesday evening, April 22, 2014, at Highland View Health Care in Brockway following a month long illness.

He was born on May 2, 1929 in St. Marys, a son of the late Charles and Beatrice Wingenbach Rigard.

Mr. Rigard was a graduate of Central High School and a member of Sacred Heart Church. He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after many years of service.  He enjoyed bowling and going to breakfast with his longtime friends at McDonald's and Monica's.  He was a life member of the K. of C., where he also served as past Grand Knight.  He was a member of the CYMA, Moose, Elks and the Sportsmen's.  He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by a brother, William Rigard, a sister, Jane, Mrs. Anthony Young, both of St. Marys, 3 nephews, Gary Rigard, Craig Young, and Kevin Young and 3 nieces, Leslie Close, Brenda DeMonte and Amy Reichard.  He is also survived by 6 great nephews and 2 great nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister in early childhood, Eileen Rigard.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert J. Rigard will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street St. Marys, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, O.S.B. officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
