Robert D. "Corky" Vanalstyne

Robert D. "Corky" VanAlstyne , 83, of 401 Washington Street, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

He was born on June 3, 1939, in St. Marys, a son the late Robert and Rita Meyer VanAlstyne.

Robert was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 - 1965. He retired from Pure Carbon Company after many years of service. After his retirement, he worked for several years as a security guard.

Corky had a special interest in cars and enjoyed tinkering with all types of electronics.  He also enjoyed going to the Corner Restaurant, often lending his time washing dishes and cleaning tables.

He is survived by his sister Deborah Lint and her husband Charles of Massillon, OH, and by two nephews, Scott Piscitelli and Matthew Piscitelli.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery with Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok officiating.  Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.

Interment will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Community Nurses or to the St. Marys Ambulance Service.
