Rudolph A. Geci

June 9, 1932 — November 1, 2015

Rudolph A. Geci , 83, of Imperial Beach, California and formerly of St. Marys, died on Sunday, November 1, 2015 (All Saints Day) at Friendship Manor in California.

He was born on June 9, 1932, in St. Marys a son of the late John and Catherine Garbic Geci.

On January 18, 1971 at the American Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, he married Keiko Uragaki Geci, who preceded him in death on December 14, 2010.

Chief Petty Officer Rudolph Geci served in the U.S. Navy for 28 years and settled in Imperial Beach, CA for more than 35 years.  He served his country in the Korean War and the Vietnam War as well as being stationed in Japan for many years.  His long career in the Navy earned him the nickname "Boats" by his family for the many tours he spent on the water.  He loved dogs and cats and would pick up strays wherever he found them, bring them home and care for them.  He had multiple pets at any given time that he had taken in.

He is survived by two brothers, Ivan Geci of St. Marys and David Geci, of Austin, PA. two sisters, Mary Cunningham and Elizabeth Geci, both of St. Marys, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews living all over the country.  He also kept in touch with his niece, Sally Geyer and would come to St. Marys for years until his health made it difficult to travel across the country.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ilene Geyer, Margaret DiNardo and JoAnn Geci, and by five brothers, William, Joseph, John. George "Bucky" and Paul Geci.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Rudolph A. Geci will be celebrated on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at  10:00 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Richard Allen, officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
There will be no visitation.


Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Elk County Humane Society, 1029 E. Eschbach Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.
