Tessa L. Updyke
, 19, of 415 Main Street, Kersey, died on Monday, September 3, 2018 in Cameron, New York, following injuries sustained in a car accident.
She was born on November 18, 1998, a daughter of Jonathan Updyke and Chellie Parrish Updyke, who survive. She was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 2017. She had been an equipment manager for the football team and was affectionately known as one of the "water girls".
In addition to her parents, Jonathan Updyke and Chellie Parrish Updyke, she is survived by her brother, Tyler Updyke of Kersey, her foster brother, Patrick Wiederhold of Hanover, Germany, her maternal grandfather, Monte Parrish of Ridgway, and by her paternal grandfather, Thomas (Kathleen) Updyke of Johnstown. She is also survived by aunts and uncles, Filicia Menendez of Union City, Matthew Updyke of Johnstown, and Denice McMillen of Johnstown, as well as by several cousins and good friends, including Daisy Aldrich of Kersey.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Georgia Ann Parrish, and by her paternal grandmother, Linda Lee Updyke.
Tessa was a bright, shining light who was loved by all, sharing her friendship and hugs with those around her. She was a beautiful artist and cake decorator who enjoyed making cakes for special occasions. She was employed by Don's Pizza in St. Marys, and was working towards her EMT certification. She loved big trucks, Batman, and her beloved hat collection.
A Celebration of Life for Tessa L. Updyke will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Awakening Alliance Church, 16915 Boot Jack Road, Ridgway, PA 15853, with Pastor Don Hunter as officiant.
Interment will follow in Elkton Cemetery in Kersey.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 PM.
The family has requested that anyone who wishes and has a photograph with Tessa to please bring it to the funeral home during the viewing so that it may be placed with her.
