Theresa C. Schwabenbauer

Theresa C. Schwabenbauer , 91, of St Marys, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 20, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Theresa was born in St. Marys on May 4, 1931, the daughter of the late William and Sophie Barbarich Lechner.
On August 7, 1954 in St. Marys Church, she married the late Thomas F. “Sleepy” Schwabenbauer, Sr., who preceded her in death on September 3, 2001. Together they were blessed with more than 47 years of love and happiness.
She is survived by two sons; Thomas F. Schwabenbauer, Jr., and Timothy (Pamela) Schwabenbauer, and by a daughter; Tina (Bruce) Sherry, all of St. Marys. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Stephanie (James) Siford, Adam Schwabenbauer, Kyle Schwabenbauer, Kelsey (Derick) Morey, Ashley (Jeffrey) Petrocchi, Brock Sherry, Tabitha (Mitchell) Gerber, Benjamin Sherry, and Tiffany Sherry and by 5 great-grandchildren, Sophie, Bridger, and Elsie Siford, Kendall Morey, and Emilee Gerber. Also surviving are a sister; Leah (James) Gorton of Daguscahonda, and a brother; Daniel (Carol) Lechner of St. Marys. Theresa had many hobbies which included swimming, walking daily around St. Marys, and working in her yard. She volunteered at the Catholic School Cafeteria, St. Marys Historical Society, and American Red Cross Blood Bank with her friends for many years. She often watched the wildlife in her yard and enjoyed feeding the birds. Her favorite dog was the German Shepherd and along with owning multiple dogs, she was an avid collector of German Shepherd keepsakes. She never got tired of telling stories about the “Madison Street Gang” which was from “The Best Street in St. Marys”.  She loved listening to the song “Wipeout”, was brought to tears at the death of Elvis, and also was fond of her favorite cowboy, Gene Autry.  She cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed by many.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; William Lechner, Jr. and John Lechner, and by a sister; Caroline Long.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa C. Schwabenbauer will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Community Nurses.
