Thomas B. Eckert

Thomas B. Eckert , 88, of 1428 Rosely Road, St. Marys, died on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.

He was born on November 7, 1926, in St. Marys, a son of the late Henry and Anna Haberberger Eckert.

On November 22, 1947 in St. Marys Church, he married Alice Dumich Eckert, who survives.

Tom was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys area schools.  He was a member of the Queen of the World Church.  He served in the U.S. Army duriung WWII.  He was a self-employed contractor throughout working life and was a member of the American Legion.  He was a member of the Bluebirds Baseball Team and was one of the last survivung members.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting trap and skeet.

In addition to his wife of nearly 68 years, Alice Dumich Eckert, he survived by a son, Dennis Eckert of St. Marys, one granddaughter, Tina, Mrs. Joseph Rossman of Emporium, and one great-granddaughter, Megan Gordon.  He is also survived by 3 sisters, Patricia, Mrs. William Quagliani of Kersey, Geraldine Bille of St. Marys, and Mary Jane Yetzer of Sun City, AZ, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Leona Fritz and Katherine Herbstritt, and by 7 brothers, Richard, James, Floyd, Arthur, Carl, Raymond and Donald Eckert.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas B. Eckert will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at 10:00 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA with Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Interment will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
