Vada F. Liptak
, 88, of 123 Parkway Road, St. Marys, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 19, 2019 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born on April 20, 1930, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Frank and Jessie Stahl Ginther.
On August 22, 1958 at St. Leo's Church in Ridgway, she married William J. Liptak, who preceded her in death on September 7, 2010.
Vada was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of St. Marys Area High School. She graduated from Penn State University with a Master's Degree in Education. She retired from St. Marys Area School District after many years as an educator. A longtime and very active member of First United Methodist Church, Vada was a staple at the church who was involved in many activities over the years. Instrumental in the foundation of Bowls of Love and St. Marys Christmas Day Dinner, Vada could often be found volunteering for her church.
Vada was a member of the American Association of University Women, AARP, Order of the Eastern Star, and PA Association of Retired School Employees. She enjoyed volunteering, cooking, and baking.
She is survived by a brother; Urban Ginther of St. Marys, and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers; LaVerne, LeRoy, Francis, and Richard Ginther, and by four sisters; Elizabeth Nelson, Marie Johnson, Grave Ginther, and Helen Lawton.
Funeral Services for Vada F. Liptak will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 140 N. St. Marys Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Timothy Hoover, Pastor, officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or to the First UMC Bowls of Love, 140 N. St. Marys Street, St. Marys, PA 15857
