Virginia J. “Ginny” Skrzypek , 87, of Main Street, Kersey, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 25, 2022 with her family by her side.
She was born on June 15, 1935 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Rocco and Rose Caseino Catalone.
On July 9, 1955, she married the late Vincent D. Skrzypek, Sr., who preceded her in death on June 9, 2002. Together they shared more than 47 years of love, laughter, and happiness.
Ginny was a graduate of St. Marys High School, class of 1953. She retired from Automatic Turning and Machining of Kersey after many years of service. Ginny was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Church, where she enjoyed volunteering in the cafeteria and baking for fish fries and funeral luncheons.
Ginny loved cooking and baking, especially Sunday dinners with her beloved family. She looked forward to the birthday parties for her kids and grandkids, always enjoying spending time with her family. She also loved rides in the car, shopping and going out to eat. She will be fondly remembered as a sweet, kind, and loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by seven children; Stephen P. (Roxanne) Skrzypek, Terrence A. (LuAnn) Skrzypek, Eugene P. Skrzypek, with whom she resided, Gordon T. (Cindy) Skrzypek, Vincent D. (Judi) Skrzypek, Jr., Victor J. (Lynn Meyer) Skrzypek, Cathy A. (Scott) Meyer, all of Kersey, and by a daughter-in-law; Jean M. Skrzypek. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; Christine (Chad) Swackhammer, Trevor Skrzypek, Ashley (Jon) West, April Becker, Katy (David) Graham, Andy (LeAnn) Skrzypek, Ethan (Breanne) Skrzypek, Angela (Joey) Taylor, Brian (Michelle) Skrzypek, Amber (Michael McCormick) Skrzypek, Jennifer (Owen Dugger) Skrzypek, Michelle Skrzypek, David (Ashley) Skrzypek, Nicole (Chuck Sorg) Skrzypek, Chase (Miranda Hanes) Skrzypek, Erica (Casey) Radaelli, Morgan (Bryant) Rieder, and Carlee, Wyatt, and Traylynn Ginther and by 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was also looking forward to the birth of 2 more great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by seven siblings; Rudy Catalone of St. Marys, Edward Catalone of Hummelstown, Joanne (Tom) Bauer Kersey, Mary Lee Lanshack of Weedville, Elizabeth Williams of St. Marys, Rocco (Sandy) Catalone of Palmyra, and Lucy (Craig) Newton of Hummelstown, 3 sisters-in-law; Helen Miraglia, Josephine Levenduski, and Betty Catalone, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; Regina Marie Skrzypek; four siblings; Mario Catalone, Gabriel “Paul” Catalone, Robert Catalone, Rita Mattivi, and by a brother in infancy; Joseph Catalone. She was also preceded in death by a grandson-in-law; Jacob Becker.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia J. “Ginny” Skrzypek will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Church, 355 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846 with Fr. Kevin Holland, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 P M.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fox Township Ambulance, St. Boniface Church, or to the Penn Highlands Community Nurses.
